Etoile Mine
Brief History of Operations
The Etoile deposit (license 577) was mined by Gécamines the DRC state mining company until the 1960s. Artisanal miners worked the area until 2000, when the Ruashi-Etoile concession was divided and offered to private investors. Chemaf was granted the rights to Etoile, which was signed over in 2003. This included exploration rights to some of the surrounding areas.
